Introduction

LateNiteSoft ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Pinpoint mobile application ("App").

Pinpoint is designed to work locally on your device. We do not operate any server for Pinpoint, and the App does not send your location, saved places, coordinates, settings, or history to us or to any server controlled by us.

Information We Collect

We do not collect personal information from Pinpoint. We do not receive, store, sell, rent, or share your location data.

Location Data

• Current Location: When you grant location permission, Pinpoint uses your device's location to display your current coordinates, accuracy, altitude, heading, and map position.
• Precise Location: If enabled by you in iOS, Pinpoint may use precise location to show and share accurate coordinates.
• Approximate Location: If Precise Location is disabled, Pinpoint continues to work with approximate location and clearly labels approximate sharing.
• Local Processing: Location data is processed on your device and is not transmitted to LateNiteSoft or to any LateNiteSoft server.

Saved Places and History

• Saved Locations: When you use "Remember This Place" or choose to save a shared location, the saved place is stored locally on your device.
• Place Names: Names you add to saved places are stored locally on your device.
• History: Your saved and shared location history remains on your device unless you delete it.
• Deletion: You can delete individual saved places or clear saved locations from within the App.

Settings and Preferences

• Display Settings: Coordinate format, units, map style, and accuracy threshold preferences are stored locally on your device.
• Privacy and History Settings: Auto-save preferences and related controls are stored locally on your device.

Sharing and Exporting

• Share Sheet: When you choose to share a location, Pinpoint prepares a message on your device and passes it to the iOS share sheet.
• Maps Links: Shared messages may include Apple Maps and Google Maps links generated from the coordinates you choose to share.
• Clipboard: When you copy coordinates, the copied text is placed on your device clipboard.
• GPX Export: When you export a GPX file, the file is generated locally on your device and shared only through actions you choose.

Device Permissions

• Location Permission: Pinpoint requests location access so it can show your current coordinates and related location details.
• Precise Location Permission: Pinpoint may request temporary precise location access when needed for accurate sharing.
• Permission Control: You can change or revoke location permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app.

How We Use Information

Because Pinpoint does not send information to our servers, we use information only locally within the App to provide its features:

• Display your current coordinates and location details
• Show your position on a map
• Copy coordinates to the clipboard when you request it
• Prepare shareable location text and map links when you request sharing
• Save places locally when you choose to remember or save them
• Generate GPX files locally when you request export
• Store your app preferences locally on your device

Data Lifecycle and Processing Flow

How Your Data Is Handled

1. Permission: You grant location access through iOS.
2. Local Reading: Pinpoint receives location information from Apple's Core Location framework on your device.
3. Local Display: Pinpoint displays coordinates, accuracy, altitude, heading, and map information inside the App.
4. Optional Local Save: If you save or remember a place, the location is stored locally on your device.
5. Optional Sharing: If you choose to share, Pinpoint creates share text or a GPX file locally and hands it to the iOS share sheet.
6. No Server Upload: Pinpoint does not upload your location data, saved places, settings, or history to LateNiteSoft or to any LateNiteSoft server.
7. Deletion: You can remove saved places from the App. You can also remove the App from your device to delete App data managed by iOS.

Third-Party Services

Pinpoint uses Apple system frameworks, including Core Location, MapKit, and the iOS share sheet, to provide app functionality. These services are provided by Apple and are subject to Apple's privacy practices.

If you choose to share your location through another app, open a maps link, or export data to another service, that action is controlled by you and may be subject to the privacy policy of the selected app or service.

Pinpoint may generate Google Maps links for sharing. These links are plain text until you or a recipient opens them.

Analytics, Tracking, and Advertising

Pinpoint does not include third-party advertising, third-party analytics, or tracking SDKs. We do not track you across apps or websites.

Data Retention

Pinpoint does not retain your data on our servers because your data is not sent to our servers. Saved places and preferences remain locally on your device until you delete them, clear them in the App, or remove the App and its data from your device.

Children's Privacy

Pinpoint is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

Pinpoint keeps location data local to your device. You are responsible for choosing when and with whom to share coordinates, maps links, or exported files. Once you share information with another app, person, or service, their handling of that information is outside Pinpoint's control.

Your Choices

• You can grant, deny, or revoke location permission in iOS Settings.
• You can enable or disable Precise Location in iOS Settings.
• You can choose whether to save shared locations.
• You can delete saved places in the App.
• You can choose whether to copy, share, open, or export location information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above.
